Why Asheron's Call it's so old?

This guide is intended for new players on the Derptide server. If your new to Asheron's Call. Welcome to your new addiction. Asheron's Call is an old game with a small but dedicated fan base. The graphics are sub-par by today's standards of theme park games like WoW. Asheron's Call does not hand hold. You really have to figure things out by talking to the NPC's and your fellow players. Don't be afraid to ask questions or you will not find much direction in your gameplay. Your choices will decide how you want to play. Grind, Adventure, Craft, Roleplay this is a sandbox it's really up to you.

So why Derptide?

Well, if you already have a main server and are getting bored with the game, Derptide just might be for you. New to AC? Well, this will feel like a brand-new IP. Live updates! Yes really. These guys have done their homework and know the game well. Feels like the retail game with live GM’s and events. Get into a battle with the GM playing dual roles of himself a leader against dark forces. And as the new antagonist Novarax and his minions. Live story ark being written and coded by the dedicated Devs. See the Devs daily. There is usually one around at all times. They like to take shifts and their shifts overlap so you can see several of them on at the same time. They are tirelessly in the game working, playing, solving problems for players, scheduling events, organizing runs that are coordinated thru Discord and by in game announcements. New content This is just my opinion and perspective. This is not 100% accurate as the number is constantly going up I say 1000+ updated quests I think its closer to 1400. Many new quests lead back to old revamped areas. Same idea for all following statements. 1000+ updated quest items to be relevant to the games changing content. 1000+ New items from clothing to armor, weapons, jewelry. 1000+ new critters, tons of new bosses that will need a fellowship to take down. Rare Spawns with unique loot. New areas: Artic North, Mountain Retreat, Adventures Guild office, Edelbar, Safehold. Hidden quests are in the game so make sure to talk and pay attention to the NPC’s. The Dev's don't like spoilers. Whole new currency rewards for new vendors offering powerful new ways to advance. New daily quest hubs with amazing rewards. Several hundred new NPC's, offering over 300 custom quests. 19 New spells in a new magic line, learnable by war, life or void. Plus several new ones from rare creature drops and new quest rewards. Carebears are out there go find them for Derpcoins. Server event currency: Derpcoins - you can buy special items like larger backpacks and XP gems to *feed your mules. And perfect Salvage for your tinkers. Special tinker hammer that will ensure success on your tinks for 10 mins. (New Jollium armor and weapons will need this). Mule Booster with 102 slot packs. Weekly stipends for nice rewards including Aug gems. Lv 7 buff Botts Sausage Mcbuffin and Curmudgeon’s Envoy. Pay an MMD for lv 8 Buffs from Thrydwulf. Ostanes and Smith Master Hewg are bots that will tinker for you if you lack the skill. New portal hubs, Old subway, Jungle Shadows in safehold. All the old destroyed world portals have been fixed. Marketplace for new gear sets, and weapons. Tailoring makes items look like other items; this needs a guide itself. Legendary Chests in safehold for ease of use. Tons of quality-of-life changes, icon labels on bags for example. Patch notes posted on Discord. Sometimes it's just hints they hate spoilers. Did I mention this? Weekly events chaperoned by the Devs, Deimos and Bellas. A new quest for another skill point. New crafting recipes: Yay lv 8 Dispel potions. Houses now hold 12 packs and have NO maintenance. Virindi tutor that will teach you all your spells up to lv 6 for free. Go to KFC to loot 7's from the drops, The other players will help you with your 8’s. And the best for last is the other players, they are always willing to help out. The Dev’s also love to add in secret stuff, something about a key? Yrelvielle has some secrets I keep heating about need to make my way over to the broken shadow spire. I'm sure there is more I have missed. Leveling Exploration Society Located in Rithwicand other places, this new quest hub offers many quests throughout your leveling process that have unique and powerful rewards. Talk to the NPC who will give you a new quest when you have finished their previous one. Some of these can be really hard solo. The armor and jewelry from here are really strong, and the weapon is really nice starting out. Exploration Society Facility Hub This quest hub with many portals is more than just a fast way to port around, they take you all across Dereth revisiting some of the most popular quests. Remember these have all been updated to be useful and not so quickly outgrown.50 or so nostalgic quests. Plus more ports in the bottom to popular grinding spots. Explore Remember you can just explore and see what you can find. You can do this at your own pace. There is no rush, this is about making connections and having fun together. The loot is just the start. You never know what your going to run across in your adventures. But you can rush if that's your thing. We have that option if you just want to get straight to the new content. There are a ton of quest that have been redone with new and upgraded rewards, don't skip the faction grinds. You can go to KFC and get some chicken. Ask the Colonel when you get there. hint: Chickens hate fire. Directions: South side of town network, Annex wing, the portal is in the floor behind the counter. Join a fellowship by telling nearby players with a private tell "XP". Grind your way to max. Very fast xp. Build up your resources, money, Lv 7 spells, and lv 8 components. This is a tier 7 area. No guide needed on this pick a spot and grind away, try to loot it all before respawn. A lot of these mobs require groups. I will try to give you a rough idea from my perspective. Once you hit 200ish this is what it takes to get stronger. Flag for Luminance. Then you are going to need to start getting XP Augmentation Gems. Then you will need to unlock your 3 Aetheria slots. Cover all your resists: Fire, Cold, Acid, Lightning, Pierce, Slash, Bludgeon. (Legendary) This is really important as these extra bonuses and stats make you so much stronger. After this is started and you have a good idea what your goals are and what Augmentations you need, you should consider looking for set pieces of armor. Preferably set pieces with legendary stats and rating. Ask for help after you have outgrown your starter sets from Marketplace. We can help you get set up with a basic set to cover your resists. Tag along if someone says they are going to do their daily's. Data does this a lot. Get a loot filter added to V-tank. I posted a good one on Derptide Discord, it’s under Meta’s. Keep an eye out on Discord for quest announcements. Sign up. Once you have done a lot of this, try hitting up Artic North and kill solo Banderlings for their Jollium ore drops. This will make you a powerful set of Jollium armor/weapons. You will need to make friends with an Alchemist to complete a set. Jollium Armor pieces come with “Hearty” set by default. The set pieces can be modified and changed. Sigils can change the set the piece belongs to. Runes will add rating up to + 3. The virindi and the bosses in the Artic North drop the Sigils and Runes. You can also pick up a few daily quests here. Turn in extra ores to Vakala of the Arcanum for Exp and a Random Sigil. Want to know more?
